14 Is any among you sick?—The word translated “sick,” (as- theneo, literally, to be weak, without strength), is a term often used for illness, in the New Testament. (Matt. 10:8; John 5:7; Acts 9:37; Phil. 2:27.) The author, in verse 13, designates “suffering” in general; here, one particular type of suffering—physical illness—is specifically mentioned.
